cherieofthedragons: My Dragon Age Inquisitor Mirevas, tilting her head (Default)
One of the things I used to love about livejournal groups that were similar to this was people sharing their work. So... in hopes people will follow my lead, maybe I can share a couple of things I wrote? These are the two of the works I'm proudest of.

A Little White Lie:

Pairing: Anders/f!Hawke
Rating: Explicit. Smut is in chapters 17 and 18, so you can skip those if you want.
Summary: Autumn Hawke is awkward around men, and Anders in particular. To get her to loosen up, Isabela and Bethany tell her that Anders is only interested in other men.

Pairing: Blackwall/f!Lavellan
Rating: Explicit, but if you skip chapters 14 and 22 you can avoid the smut.
Summary: Modern tattoo shop AU. Blackwall is an ex-con looking for the perfect artist to do his griffon tattoo. Mirevas Lavellan is that artist -- and so much more.

What do you think of the DA voice actors? Have any of them inspired you to go and seek out other things they've done?

And, important question: who would voice your Warden if they remastered Origins and gave the playable character a voice?

Slightly controversial issue here - remember to be nice to each other when discussing.

What do you all think about mods? I've only ever played on PS3/PS4 so I've never used them personally but I've seen images/gifs on Tumblr and I know it's something a lot of people feel strongly about.

If you've used mods what sort of things do you change and why? If you've made a conscious choice not to use mods what was the reasoning.

I have to say from what I've seen I like superficial mods. Ones that let you change clothes or hair, stuff like that. But that being said I HATE HATE HATE the mod that removes Dorian's moustache. Just...why?

In terms of deeper changes. Ones that let you change the sexuality of the characters, skin tone etc I think it depends on use I guess. One person I know on Twitter explained it quite well. If a mod is used to add minority representation to a game then that's great, if it's used to remove it then that's bad.

I think that's pretty much where I stand on the issue. Making Cass or Cullen bi so they can have a same sex relationship is fine. Making Dorian bi so he can have a heterosexual relationship not so much (and that's ignoring the fact that making him straight kind of derails his whole personal story/quest)

Thoughts? Opinions?

Just because there seems to be some confusion ANYONE can post to this comm! I'm just doing discussion posts to get people talking but it's open for anyone to post. Got something you want to discuss/ask/share then go for it! :D

Just remember to follow the posting guidelines

Sorry that this only really applies to those who have played DA2 but I'm wondering what you all think of this guy

Did any of you romance him? Do you tend to side with him or Anders? Do you like him as a character?

I probably should have started with this one really.

How did you get into Dragon Age? What is it about the games that keeps you interested.

For me it's all the fault of [ profile] flickums (my sister). When I bought my PS3 way back when I sent her a text asking for game suggestions and she recommended Arkham Asylum or Dragon Age: Origins. I've always been a fan of D&D/Fantasy games way back to playing text adventures on my Commodore 64 in the 80s so I decided to give Dragon Age a go.

I was sold as soon as I saw that not only could you choose races other than human but you could also customise what your character looks like. Any game that lets you design your character is an instant win for me (if anyone knows other games like this I am all ears).

The story of Origins is great too. I love that you can make decisions which shape the outcome of the world you're in. The plot is classic D&D. The supporting characters are all amazing and well-written.

And when I went in I didn't even know you could have a romance with one of your companions. I discovered it totally by accident when I accidentally clicked on Alistair in a cave while searching for the Urn of Sacred Ashes. He gave me a rose and my heart melted.

I basically became glued to my PS3. I did all the origin stories, all the romances. I couldn't get enough of it. I pre-ordered DA2 as soon as I could and then binge-played that one too.

DAI is still ongoing as I have 4 more characters which I've created that I need to finish. After that I might go back to Origins again (although I just completed it again recently with all the DLC this time). Or I might just play DAI constantly until DA4 comes out :D

Mages or Templars

Tell me about your Wardens, Hawkes and Inquisitors!

Share pics, share bios! Do you have a whole lengthy headcanon for them or just what appears in the game?

Do you play the same class of character each time (Warrior, Rogue, Mage?) or do you mix it up.

Some of my characters )

Please share yours! I love seeing pictures of other people's characters :D

Let's talk romances

Do you romance the same person each game or does it depend on the character you're playing?

I'm still working through all the Inquisition romances. I've fully completed Cullen, Solas, Bull and Dorian including the Trespasser DLC. I've got Josie, Sera, Cassandra and Blackwall in various states of completion.

In Origins I pretty much always romance Alistair although I have romanced the others at various points. Alistair is my precious.

In DA2 I vary between Fenris and Anders. I tend to romance Anders if I'm playing a female Hawke and Fenris if I'm playing a male. I don't know why that's just what feels right to me. Weirdly I have never romanced Merrill. I don't know there's just something childlike and innocent about her that I've always just felt a bit weird about romancing her. She feels like my little sister.

How about you guys? Which romance(s) do you like best?

So here's my question. Do you have a default party that you use whenever you play one of the games or do you mix it up depending on the character you're playing?

I mixed it up in the beginning so I could have a go at playing with everyone but I've settled into default parties now

Origins: Alistair, Leliana, Wynne
Awakening: Nathaniel, Velanna, Anders
DA2: Anders, Fenris, Isabela
Inquisition: Dorian, Bull, Cole

What about you guys?

Welcome to [community profile] dragon_age!

This is a place to talk about any and all aspects of the Dragon Age series. Pretty much anything goes with just a few guidelines

*If you're posting large or multiple images please place them behind a cut
*Fanfic is welcome but please ensure the rating and summary are included. If you're posting fic directly to the comm rather an external link please post the fic under the cut
*Since the DAI DLC is still relatively new please post any discussion related to this under a cut

I think that's about it! Any questions drop me a comment
